Paying Forward Pays Back

About Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward is an initiative by HandsOn River Region that helps low-income, uninsured residents of the Montgomery area receive critical dental care while giving back to their community. Participants earn dental treatment by volunteering at local nonprofits, exchanging service hours for dental care from participating providers.

It’s more than dental care—it’s about restoring dignity, confidence, and connection.

Pay It Forward began in 2017 through a partnership with Dr. Art Steineker and continues today with the support of compassionate dentists and community agencies. Currently, we partner with Hope Inspired Ministries and the Gift of Life Foundation to receive referrals to the Pay It Forward program.

Client Story: Marion Amos

Marion, a graduate of Hope Inspired Ministries, discovered the Pay It Forward program during a class presentation. Needing extensive dental work, she completed over 300 hours of service—far beyond what was required.

“I thank God for this program. I never thought I would have a pretty smile again. The confidence boost I received makes me walk around smiling BIG, saying HEYY.” — Marion Amos

Today, Marion proudly volunteers at the Rosa Parks Museum and shares her journey with others.

For Dentists and Partners

HandsOn welcomes new dental providers to join the Pay It Forward network. Dentists may limit the number of participants they serve (e.g., one per month or quarter) and are never obligated to exceed their comfort level.
